I have just about everything working on a Dell Optiplex 7010 (even iMessage), but the audio is driving me nuts.
There doesn't appear to be a "Newbie" Audio guide and the guides I've seen are confusing to me, I'm sure they're easily understood for an experienced user, but I'm finding them difficult to understand.
Through perseverance though, I've got the onboard sound to show up in system preferences, but even when I choose HDMI output, there is no sound to my TV/Monitor.

I've just done a clean install of High Sierra (with all updates)
Apart from the odd reboot hang, my main issue is the HDMI or DP audio. I've read through some guides but can't find one that covers my issue.
Once booted there is no issue with graphics out of either port but to get audio, I have to unplug and go to the other. It doesn't matter if I boot with display port of HDMI, to get audio I have to switch. I'm a bit cautious to test too many as it's taken days just to get this to...

Audio over Hdmi not working - Intel Nuc dc3217iye
Hi guys, I'm sorry to disturb you... i'm quite a noob, but starting from 0 i've been able to install Mojave on my Intel Nuc dc3217iye (i3 3217u, 8gb ram, 120gb Ssd). Intel HD4000 graphics works fine, Ethernet is ok, but i don't know how to set Audio (over hdmi)... before writing this post i've seen many posts, but some are old and some are... ehm, a bit difficult for me to understand. No Sound Through HDMI Port on 1080 ti, but does work through display port??
Hi, I have just reinstalled Hackintosh High Sierra and everything is working apart from the audio through HDMI port. Audio IS working through Display port but I need to use the HDMI port as the resolution is really low on clover boot loader through display port. I am using gtx 1080 ti with lily kext and whatevergreen kext. any help would be appreciated.

Hey guys, i have tried searching through the forum for anyone reporting on the 1050 and cant seem to find if anyone has gotten HDMI audio working on it. I had HDMI audio working fine in Sierra on my old ATI HD5870 card however i cant for the life of me get it working with my new gigabyte 1050 ti card.
I have tried the HDMIAudio.kext method with no success. I have also tried using a DP to HDMI adapter as some people have suggested but this still isn't giving me audio.

How to Disable DP Audio?
It's so damn annoying that the audio output is switched to DisplayPort every time I turn my monitor on, despite it not having any speakers. Audio stops working until I switch back to "internal speakers".
How can I disable DisplayPort Audio? AppleHDAEngineOutputDP, inside AppleHDA, is the bad guy that needs to be disabled somehow.

I recently removed my EVGA 1050ti video card that was working under High Sierra with an MSI RX 470 OC. After the swap I no longer have HDMI audio.
On the sound preference panel I have Digital Audio (HDMI) listed four times, with the type column being empty. I've tried selecting each of these HDMI entries with no luck.

Clover HDMI audio for NVIDIA & AMD cards. Easy way.
Updated 07/3/2018. This solution works in High Sierra 10.13.6 as well as several previous versions of MacOS. I didn't create the tools I only figured out how to use them. Credit for the kext goes to andrejkw at macrumors. Your mileage may vary but this is the easiest solution I've found. I've used it for years & its worked for many others. Definitely worth a try.
